Hollywood movie-based games go mobile

In today’s Los Angeles Times, reporter Ben Fritz notes that “the romance between Hollywood and the video game industry is hitting the skids.” Only one important point is missing in Fritz’s analysis: Hollywood movies haven’t stopped putting out games at all. They’re putting them out along with ringtones, wallpaper, mobisodes and photos–on iPhone, BlackBerry and Android apps.

On July 22, Getfugu, a publicly traded company (OTCBB: GFGU) that offers a next-generation search tool for the mobile platform, announced that Michael Jay Solomon, founder and Chairman/CEO of Telepictures Corporation, which is credited with creating TV syndication in the U.S., has been named Chairman of The Board of Getfugu, Inc. Solomon was instrumental in introducing Western programming in China, Russia, India as well as several developing countries and was the first international distributor of the Grammy’s, MTV, and E Entertainment Channel.MobilizedTV spoke with Solomon about the future of mobile and Getfugu’s place in the ecosystem.

Super heroes are big in Hollywood and, today, Captain Alpha Male, just became the latest to try his hand at flying, saving the world and getting some buzz on the web. The initial six-episode series is the brainchild of two CBS marketing creatives: Jay Lutsky, CBS Television Creative Director, On-Air Promo, and Dan Greenberger, CBS On-Air Promo Senior Writer/Producer/Editor, who created and wrote the six-part series.

There’s something about pirates, and it’s not just Johnny Depp. Talk like a Pirate Day has gone international. Pirates are just part of the youth zeitgeist, and it’s something that creator Steve Sievers tapped into with his Supa Pirate Booty Hunt. “Rock ‘n Roll on the High Seas” is the tagline for Supa Pirate Booty Hunt, which reflects what Sievers thinks is the allure of pirates for the under 35 demo. “They were the rock stars of their time,” he said. And who doesn’t want to be a rock star? Sievers’ pirate is close to a super hero, but with a twist. “Booty is his weakness – treasure and girls,” he said.
