CTIA 2009: News from Verizon and T-Mobile

San Diego, CA–CTIA had just started, and the news came rolling in. Verizon Wireless had several announcements. Verizon Wireless and Google announced a strategic partnership to leverage the Verizon Wireless network and the Android open platform to deliver mobile apps, services and devices. The two companies plan to co-develop several Android-based devices that will be preloaded with applications from both parties and 3rd party developers.

By 2014, there will be a 46 percent growth in GPS-enabled mobile phone shipments worldwide. “We’re seeing evidence there’s big growth here and that mobile commerce and location based services are overlapping.
