The following is part of an occasional series on iPhone apps for professional content creators. Other articles in this series include Chemical Wedding’s Helios which graphically predicts the path of the sun; leading manufacturer of glass filters for TV/film market, The Tiffen Company’s Photo FX creative effects software; and DVD Bit Budget Assistant from Edit Groove Software.

Weynand Training, a Gold Level Apple Authorized Training Center based in Los Angeles, announces the launch of iKeysToGo, their new series of applications for the iPhone and iPod ikeystogoTouch, for learning and using Final Cut Pro 7. The company is promoting iKeysToGo as “a personal shortcut assistant in the palm of your hand.”

“This app offers editors five new ways to learn Final Cut Pro 7,” says Diana Weynand, who is also  author of the Apple Pro Training Series books and Apple certified courses.

1. With over 840 commands and definitions in the palm of their hand, editors can use iKeysToGo to continue learning more about the editing application, even when they’re on the go.

2. On launch, the editor can scroll through 840 Final Cut Pro shortcuts alphabetically and view their shortcuts.

3. To search for a keyboard shortcut of a specific command, an editor simply enters the command name or topic. Touching it displays the details page with the command’s shortcut and definition.

4.  An editor can search by any FCP 7 Menu (such as File, Edit, View) and also by Groups (such as Audio, Marking, Importing).

5. When editors find commands they want to use in their next edit session, they simply tag the commands to add them to their Favorites list.

“iKeysToGo is packed with keyboard shortcuts, a complete list of an application’s commands and a definition for each command,” Weynand says. “In Final Cut there are hundreds of keyboard shortcuts, yet the average user generally only uses a handful. With this application, editors can learn more about Final Cut Pro’s endless possibilities and become faster by learning new shortcuts.”

iKeysToGo is designed to be an effective learning tool for all levels of users, from beginners to professional. Priced at $2.99, this application is available now at the iTunes App Store (search for ikeystogo). iKeysToGo for Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office will be released soon.
