Fun Little Movies Debuts “Mr. Wrong”
Fun Little Movies made a splash with its Turbo Dates mobile videos, so it’s jumped back in the dating pool for Mr. Wrong, a series of mobile videos about all those dates from hell. The creator, says FLM prez Frank Chindamo, is his wife Lynn Chindamo. “Our mission statement says, we’re about love and laughter,” Frank explains. “Mr. Wrong was her idea. Lynn has done her share of dating, like me, and she ran across all

these Mr. Wrong types: Mr. Liar, Mr. Cheater, Mr. Talks-on-the-Phone-Too-Much (which was me), Mr. Dirt Bag, Mr. Messiah.”
According to Frank, Lynn began sharing these stories with her girlfriends, who threw in their own Mr. Wrong stories until they had 22 potential two-minute episodes. The Chindamos pitched it to Babelgum, which signed up for the idea, and production began. Chindamo says that part of the business proposition was to partner with an improv comedy company, Improv Olympics or IO West, which supplied not just the actors but also director James Grace (who directed the majority of the episodes) and the shooting space. (Lynn Chindamo directed four episodes and editor Nick Alexander directed one.) Editing was done by Alexander, Matthew Friedman and Ryan Tweedy. There’s also a music video Mr. Wrong, which highlights the show’s opening theme song, a collaboration between Lynn Chindamo, composer Eric Speier, and the rapper Pow Shadowz, all of whom performed in the music video.
Mr. Wrong is differentiated from Turbo Dates by structure. “Turbo Dates are full-on narratives, stories about a couple on a date and what happens in the interaction between two people,” says Chindamo. “Mr. Wrong episodes are character pieces and the character pieces are about personality types.” Watch Mr. Gadget here.
Production, with cinematographer John Rhode, was highly efficient. “We shot the music video on a Wednesday, 11 episodes of Mr. Wrong on a Thursday and the rest on Friday,” says Chindamo who reports that everyone involved got their “standard $100/day” payment. Rhode shot the episodes with a Panasonic P2 camera. The material was edited in the FLM offices, using Final Cut Pro. The audio was also mixed in-house.
Chindamo reports that all ten episodes of Turbo Dates are also up on the Babelgum site. Watch a Turbo Dates episode here. “Both Turbo Dates and Mr. Wrong start off as exclusives on Babelgum.,” says Chindamo. “Babelgum has its own iPhone platform, so that’s the first mobile element. After they go off exclusivity, they’ll go into Fun Little Movies secondary distribution.”
