Very little online/mobile content takes advantage of the creative possibilities of using stock footage. A cost effective solution such as footageheadfootagehead could change all that.

First, filmmakers have to explore creative possibilities of using stock footage, and that’s something that the footagehead MARQUEE Mini-Movie Contest aims to solve.  The prize ($500 or an Apple Gift Card) could also be incentive to enter.

If you’re making short films, for mobile, online or any other distribution platform, footagehead offers royalty-free 16×9 stock footage at $200 a clip (most clips are 10-second long). The majority of footagehead’s clips were shot on high definition low bit rate cameras using interframe compression such as the Panasonic P2, the XDCAM HD (EX1), and various HDV cameras. Some clips were shot with less compression such as on Panasonic’s Varicam and some were down-converted from HDCAM to DVCPRO HD. A select group of historical shots were up-converted from standard definition to HDV. All of footagehead’s clips have an aspect ratio of 16 x 9 (widescreen).

The Contest:
Using stock footage from the footagehead website, students are invited to create a short film of up to 60 seconds. footagehead is looking for unusual and innovative presentations that will appeal to contemporary media makers and be used to promote footagehead to clients across the entertainment, advertising, corporate and web media sectors. Students are invited to compose and edit a one minute movie using only footagehead clips.

Feature Films division and the president of a local creative agency as well as a FootageBank HD executive. The creator of the winning movie will receive $500.
